PROMOTING LITERACY IS A SNAP!

The Arkansas Education Association is excited to host Picture This: A Character Contest featuring educators dressed as their favorite children’s book character from March 1-March 31 2017. This contest is part of the Arkansas Education Association's month long celebration of Read Across America.

Read Across America is a national campaign sponsored by the National Education Association to promote child literacy.  A child's ability to read has a huge impact on future success.  Reading to children helps increase vocabulary and improves reading fluency and comprehension and we hope this contest engages more people in that effort.

This contest is open to all public school educators in Arkansas.

How to enter:

Step 1.  Take a high quality photo dressed as your favorite children's book character

Step 2. Email your photo with the name of the character, the full title of the book or book series and the author,  your first and last name, school district, work site, job title and contact information to readacrossAR@gmail.com

Step 3. Watch for your photo to be posted on AEA's facebook page https://www.facebook.com/arkansaseducation/ throughout the month of March.

Step 4. Once your photo appears, encourage your facebook friends to click like on your photo.

The educator whose photo has the most likes will be recognized as the Champion of Children's Literacy in Arkansas in April!
